Synthetic TransformationsThe Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE) has been enriching the regional community since its founding over 40 years ago. Through exhibitions, special events and educational programming, GRACE offers the diverse community of Northern Virginia ample opportunities to experience the visual arts.
Currently, GRACE is hosting a superb exhibition by Shih Chieh Huang, a visual artist and TED Talk Fellow. The exhibition, Synthetic Transformations, inspired by phosphorescent deep sea creatures, is an installation featuring interactive elements that react to the viewer. You will be awed by the magical, otherworldly, sensory environment Huang has created with... Tupperware! The harmony and chaos he has created with everyday, mundane items is truly something to behold. Synthetic Transformations will be on display through November 19. After you’ve checked out Synthetic Transformations, be sure to stroll through the rest of the center to see what else is happening in this exciting space.
Take advantage of your time in Reston by meandering the beautiful town center. There is no shortage of shops to peruse, and over 30 restaurants to pop into for an energizing meal. We recommend skating by the ice rink which opens this Saturday, November 5, for some cheery, festive fun that will put a happy glow in your cheeks.
Reston Town Center has a strong community base, and constantly offers opportunities to support troops, local families, the environment and animals. Now through November 22, you can donate to their Thanksgiving food drive by dropping off non-perishable food items in various building lobbies. Dwel strives to be a socially conscious business, and we love the ease Reston Town Center offers locals to both take in an art exhibition and give back to the community.
Residents of Northern Virginia have no shortage of interesting, cultural experiences to discover and explore. We consider ourselves very lucky to call this special place our hometown and are always happy to share our favorites with our Dwel guests.
