National Cherry Blossom FestivalThe cherry blossoms are expected to have their peak bloom between March 17-20 this year. Hopes are high for 2018 after an icy 2017 that froze most of the blossoms mid-bloom. No matter the bloom outcome, The National Cherry Blossom Festival is the perfect way to welcome spring in the D.C. area. People come from all over the world to celebrate and view the Tidal Basin decked out in its iconic pink blossoms. Because Washington, D.C. is not a city to take traditions lightly, the festival lasts a full month. Here, we’ve covered our favorite official festival events, though there are many unofficial events around the city, like the Cherry Blossom Pop-Up Bar.
