Up, Up & Away!

Heads up, aviation enthusiasts! This Saturday, October 8, a truly one of a kind event will take place in Culpeper, VA, just one hour from Northern Virginia. The Culpeper Air Fest, in its 17th year at the Culpeper Airport, is sure to delight aviation fans as well as those looking for a special day of family fun.

A stand-out of the festival will be watching the world’s only privately-owned British Aerospace Sea Harrier roar through the sky. This plane is capable of vertical takeoff and landing, a rare sight to see. Another highlight will be the talented pilots of the Bealeton Flying Circus performing some amazing air stunts sure to make the crowd ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ whilst enjoying the delicious treats for sale around the airport. There will also be wing walking, a chance to meet the pilots, model aircraft flying, children’s games and airplane rides- these can be booked in advance or on the day, based on availability.

To honor our nation’s veterans, there will be a ceremonial, historic flight over Washington, DC and its landmarks the day before the Air Fest, October 7. So even if you can’t make the Air Fest on Saturday, you can still enjoy some of the spectacle if you glimpse the World War II era aircraft on Friday!

The Culpeper Air Fest Foundation suggests attendees bring earplugs, cameras, folding chairs, sunscreen and cash for food and treats while leaving behind coolers, tents and pets.
