August is Virginia Craft Beer Month

With more than 200 craft breweries dotted throughout the rolling hills of Virginia, it’s safe to say this state is at the forefront of the craft beer movement. Take the golden opportunity of a whole month to celebrate your favorite libation at one of the following events.

Workhouse Brewfest
Saturday, August 12
Lorton, VA
One of our favorite local spots, the Lorton Workhouse Art Center, hosts an annual Brewfest, featuring loads of local vendors, ranging from musicians to artists, restaurants, and of course, more than 30 Virginian breweries, showing off their wares. Plus, the resident artists will be around, so you can tour through their studios, learn about their inspirations and processes, and perhaps even pick up a piece to display at home. If you’ve never visited the Workhouse before, this is a great excuse for a first trip!

Summer Fest
Saturday, August 12
Fredericksburg, VA
Back for a second summer, Adventure Brewing’s Summer Fest is focused on celebrating all the best components of summer- light and refreshing beer, lawn games (including a cornhole tournament!), live music, food trucks and an overall easy, relaxed vibe.

Brew Republic’s First Anniversary Party
Saturday, August 26
Woodbridge, VA
Help Brew Republic celebrate its first anniversary at their Big Top-themed party. It’s family friendly with plenty of games, entertainment (face painting, animal balloons, clowns), root beer and popcorn for the little ones.

Neptune’s Coastal Craft Beer Festival
Saturday, August 26
Virginia Beach, VA
Alright, so this festival is a little out of the D.C. metro area, but this is the perfect chance to combine a trip to the beach with a beer festival! And with the god of the seas as its patron, this is shore to be a whale of a time.
